Human Factors
Understanding the human — physiology, psychology and the limits that lead to error.
Understand how fatigue, stress, workload, attention and other natural human limitations can affect safety, service and workplace performance.
Developed from Human Performance and Limitations principles used in aviation and other high-reliability industries, this course helps hospitality employees recognise the factors that increase the risk of error and apply practical safeguards during everyday operations.
What learners will be able to do
Explain why human error is normal and predictable, not a personal failing
Use the SHEL model to see how people interact with tools, environment and others
Recognise how fatigue, stress and workload degrade performance
Understand the limits of attention, perception and memory in a busy operation
Apply practical habits and safeguards that reduce the chance of error

Assessment: Knowledge check per module, plus a final personal action plan identifying each learner’s own human-factor risks and safeguards.
